Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she was just five years old when she left for Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. Emma was only six when she decided she wanted to become an actress. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she studied acting as well as singing. As early as age ten, she took part as the lead in a number of Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film adaption of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Casting agents found Emma by way of her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight straight auditions. Emma's first film appearance was made with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film is 2001's top earning film, smashing records at the opening as well as the first weekend. It was highly acclaimed by critics, as were the performance of three young starlets. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance was recognized and later won awards for the film.
